My Book Launch Process

Updated: May 21, 2018

If you have dreams of creating a book but you're not sure how to do it, just TAKE the first STEP.... and the SECOND step... and the THIRD step... and just DON'T GIVE UP!

I wrote and illustrated Joy and The Far Away Land, fifteen years ago at a Coffee Shop in Austin, Texas. Everyday, I would sip coffee and write and draw. It took me about a year to complete it. The editing of the book was one of the most intensive parts. My Dad was a good editor, he helped write an Encyclopedia, so he helped me out a lot. At the time, I looked into self-publishing (it was super expensive that long ago) and then I just set the book down.

Fast forward 15 years, I'm running my children's business here in Houston, Texas, the Joy Kids Studio, an after-school movie making program for children. I've got a small group of great people working for me, and hundreds of kids taking classes. But I'm watching in the news every day what all is going on in the world, and one day I decided, that is it, this is the right time for my book. It's about peace and love, and that is a message we all need right now. So I decided to make it happen this year! I have loved every minute of it!
